Teacher at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza di Roma from 1978 and, between 1985 and 1989, at Ente Autonomo del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Giancarlo Cappello performed in the schools of Renato Gerco and Maria Teresa Dal Medico, Balletto di Roma, Centro di danza Mimma Testa, Istituto addestramento lavoratori dello spettacolo (I.A.L.S), Associazione italiana danzatori (A.I.D.), La Maison de la Danse, Formazione Bartolomei. He participated in many internship programmes at the best and most important centres in Italy and abroad with international teachers and choreographers such as Bella Ratchinskaja, Franca Bartolomei, Vittorio Biagi, Philip Beamish, Luc Bouy, Joso Borcic, Lia Calizza, Helene Diolot, Paola Jorio, Victor Litvinov, Robert North, Ricardo Nuñez, Rudolf Nureyev, Giuliana Penzi, Zarko Prebil, Rosella Hightower, Robert Strainer, Elisabetta Terabust, Margarita Trayanova, Vladimir Vassiliev, Vladimir Derevianko, Walter Zappolini. He has worked with Compagnia Nazionale del Balletto, Balletto di Roma, Opéra de Paris, Cullberg Ballet, Ballet de Marseille, Carte Blanche. As associated Master, he recorded for the RAI TV channel the TV series “I ragazzi del muretto”, “La banda dello zecchino”, “Disneyland Club”. He performed in the film “Ricordati di Me” by Gabriele Muccino. He participated as Accompanying Master to the TV series “Non smettere di sognare”. In 1992 he was awarded at the Festival di Altomare as one of the best accompanying pianist for dance, and in 1998, as Accompanying Master, at the 1st S.Pölten Festival Contest in Austria. He has also composed musical scores for ballet operas and dance performances. Since 1997 he has recorded a number of albums: together with M.me Franca Bartolomei, head mistress of the School of Balletto di Roma “Passi sul Pentagramma” for classical ballet classes; in 2001 “Regardez la musique… ecoutez la danse” together with M.me Clarissa Mucci, teacher at the Accademia Nazionale di Danza di Roma; together with Maestro Ivan Tzanov, in 2008, “Metodo di A. Vaganova”. In 2002, together with Raffaele Paganini and Franca Bartolomei, he has recorded 2 videos for ballet teachers titled “Per mano verso il successo”. As a lecturer, he teaches a Masters Class for Accompanying Master, Composer and Improviser for classical ballet, aimed for pianists and composers. Since 2012 he is the Accompanying Master for the classical ballet classes of the School of Balletto di Roma managed by Paola Jorio.
