“Italian Excellence Award” | China Awards 2023

Balletto di Roma receives the “Italian Excellence Award” in Milan
as part of the China Awards 2023

On 13th December 2023 at the Auditorium of the National Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan, the General Director of Balletto di Roma Luciano Carratoni collects the “Italian Excellence Award” as part of the China Awards (18th edition), an annual award ceremony for the Italian companies that have best seized the opportunities of the Chinese market and vice versa.

With this prestigious award given to Balletto di Roma, the importance of the 2023 tour with the production “Juliet and Romeo” (choreography by Fabrizio Monteverde) – which traveled 5000 km during last September, reaching the largest cities of China – was officially recognized.

The tour, supported by the MIC and all the Italian institutions present in China, saw the participation of the Ambassador of Italy to the People’s Republic of China Massimo Ambrosetti, the Consul General of Italy in Shanghai Tiziana D’Angelo, the Consul General of Italy in Canton Valerio De Parolis and both the Directors of the Italian Cultural Institutes of Beijing Roberto Federico Antonelli and of Shanghai Francesco D’Arelli.

The objective of the China Awards event – organized by the Italy China Council Foundation (ICCF) and Class Editori in partnership with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in China and the patronage of the Italian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce – was to communicate the importance that the internationalization process has for the Italian and Chinese companies, placing emphasis on the benefits that derive from the flows of capital, people, ideas, goods and services between Italy and China. In addition to the Golden Lions, in the other 6 categories awarded – which featured Italian and Chinese companies, both multinationals and small and medium-sized enterprises – Balletto di Roma receives the “Italian Excellence Award” together with Ferretti Group, Fidenza Village / Part of the Bicester Collection, Italian Exhibition Group, POLI.design.

The evening saw the participation of 250 guests, including representatives of the Italian business and industrial world. After the awards ceremony, a Charity Dinner – in collaboration with the Polytechnic of Milan – was also held to finance scholarships aimed at students of the University involved in activities that can represent a bridge between Italy and China.

«Thank you very much to the Foundation and to the Jury who honored us of being here in front of a parterre so rich in experiences and intensity of values», declared Luciano Carratoni during the award ceremony «because perhaps it is also the first time that a cultural institution has been awarded in this context. We create bridges in some way, virtual, cultural bridges, as we did on this last occasion 2023 in China where we were hosted in 9 big cities with 12 performances, also reopening the Chinese theater market, which was severely affected by the pandemic crisis. Bringing the Chinese community back to these huge, beautiful spaces was an honor for us. A great value also for Italy because we bring a made-in-Italy brand with pride all over the world, but in particular in China where we believe that dance, as a universal language, which belongs to us, can be a strong element of contact with the Chinese community».
