compagnia-azzurra-schena Azzurra began and completed her classical dance studies in Fasano, Puglia, with the teacher Silvia Humaila. At the age of 18 she made her debut in the role of Juliet with the National Ballet Company, directed by Giuseppe Carbone. She dances as a soloist in companies such as the Ballet of Puglia, Ballet of Milan and in the Corps du Ballet of the Arena of Verona and Teatro Massimo of Palermo. Over the years she has treaded the scenes of the major Italian theaters, obtaining accolades from critics and audiences and collaborating with renowned choreographers such as Amedeo Amodio, Toni Candeloro, Luciano Cannito, Mauro Bigonzetti, Mauro Astolfi, Giorgio Mancini, Michele Pogliani, Gianluca Schiavoni. In April 2008 she took part in the “Apulian Stars in the World” gala organized by Daniele Cipriani at the Kennedy Theater in Fasano. In 2004 she joined the staff of Balletto di Roma, and from that moment on she played solo and main roles in all the major productions of the company. Among these we remember Mario Piazza’s The Nutcracker in which she plays the role of Clara, flanked by José Perez, Amilcar Moret Gonzalez and André De La Roche; “Giulietta and Romeo”, “Otello”, and “Cenerentola” by Fabrizio Monteverde in which she respectively plays the role of Juliet, Emilia, Cinderella; The Nutcracker by Massimiliano Volpini in which she plays the role of Clara again. She is the protagonist of “Juliet and Romeo” also in the 2011 tours in China and 2018 in Argentina. Since 2017, she is among the teachers of the Masterclasses of Balletto di Roma for the “Training on Tour” project and, from 2020, of the CAP – Professional Start-up Course. In the 2019/2020 season she plays the role of Sancho Panza in “Io, Don Quixote” by Fabrizio Monteverde. On 3 October 2020, at the Verdi Theater in Padua, she received the “National Sphere D’Oro Award”, a prestigious award given to the most brilliant dancers on the Italian and international scene.
